What to Do if Your Visa Is Denied

Last week, our blog discussed how to apply for an F-1 visa. After you have been accepted into a SEVP approved school, completed the Form DS-160, and scheduled your visa interview, you will need to prepare for your visa interview. Hopefully, your visa application is approved. The consular office that conducts your interview will determine whether or not you are qualified to receive a student visa. They may also require further documents or information to approve your application. If your visa application is approved, GREAT! You may have to pay a visa issuance fee, but then it is time to get ready for your trip. Pack up your things, book your flight, and arrange your housing situation as soon as you can. On the other hand, if your visa application is denied, you might be unsure of what to do next. Your options vary based on the reason for your visa denial. You should receive a notice explaining the reason for your denial or if further documents are needed. You cannot appeal the decisio...

Why AELS Requires You to Sign Up for Quarters instead of Months?

Plenty of other language schools let students enroll whenever they want for however long they desire. They can enroll for 4 weeks, 8 weeks, or 10 weeks with no problems. However, at American English Language School, each level of our ESL program is 3 months, so the minimum amount of time students can study is 3 months. Are you wondering why you must study for a minimum of 3 months?   First, when students enroll in an ESL program, they tend to be shy or embarrassed to participate during the class. If students don’t participate, it prevents them from improving. In order to help students improve as much as possible, each level of our ESL course is 3 months long. During the first week of classes, teachers and students work on getting to know each other. Students work on introducing each other and learning about their fellow students. They also do some ice breakers to feel more comfortable with each other. We do this to make students feel more comfortable participating in the cla...

Study at American English Language School!

American English Language School is proud to announce that our next quarter is starting in October! Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, not many people have been able to practice their English as often. Social distancing has not let people interact with others as easily, so it may have delayed your English learning. Fortunately, our ESL program can help! At American English Language School, we keep our ESL classes to a maximum of 6 students . We keep our ESL classes to a minimum of 6 students so we can maximize your English learning experience. When teachers have 10-15 students, it makes it difficult for them to frequently give attention to every one of their students. At AELS, teachers will never have more than 6 students, so it is easy for them to observe and provide feedback to all of their students. Furthermore, with only 5 other classmates, it makes it easier for you to ask questions to your teacher. Are you interested, but not sure how to apply? The first thing that you need to d...

Culture Week

The 12th week of each quarter is always our ‘Culture Week.’ Culture week is the last week of each quarter and is a fun and interesting way for students to learn about American culture through real experiences rather than learning from a textbook. It is also a great way to test yourself to see if you can function in normal everyday situations outside of the classroom. While in our ESL program, you will have plenty of opportunities to practice speaking and listening inside of the classroom. However, a lot of students tell us that they do not get to practice speaking English anywhere else. This is an important reason why we created culture week. Culture week is a fun way for students to practice their English outside of the classroom while getting to have fun with their classmates and teacher. This past culture week, students started the week by watching a movie together. Afterward, they discussed their thoughts on the movie with the class. Students also had a game day where they played...
